Editorial Policy and Content Review Process

Last updated: 21 October, 2026

Bione's Health Library covers the gut microbiome, genomics and preventive health for Indian readers. Health information shapes real decisions about food, medicines and care, so every article we publish follows the standards on this page.

Here you can see who writes and reviews our content, which sources we rely on, how each article is checked before it goes live, and how we keep it up to date.

Who Creates and Reviews Our Content

Every article carries the name of its writer and its reviewer, along with the date it was last reviewed. Each name links to a profile, so you can see their background.

Writer

Hitesh Chauhan, Senior Content Writer, researches and writes articles for Bione's Health Library. He works from published research and Indian health data, and turns them into practical guidance on everyday food and lifestyle choices. With years of experience translating clinical literature and multi-omic research into actionable daily advice, his work focuses on gut health, functional nutrition, and metabolic wellness. Scientific Reviewer

Dr Surindra K Chikara holds a PhD in Molecular Microbiology from Osmania University, an MS in Biotechnology from Madurai Kamaraj University and a BS in Biosciences from Jamia Millia Islamia. He has more than 20 years of experience in genomics and molecular biology.

He checks that the science in each article is accurate: how gut bacteria and genes work, what the studies found, and what a gut microbiome or DNA test can and cannot tell you. View his LinkedIn profile.

Medical Reviewer

Shailesh Bisht is a registered dietitian who reviews every article that gives health or diet advice. He checks that the guidance is safe, that symptoms which need a doctor are clearly flagged, and that the advice suits Indian diets and health conditions.

How We Choose Topics

We write about the questions Indian readers ask most about their gut, their genes and their long-term health. Topics come from what people search for, the questions our customers ask about their reports, and new research that is worth explaining.

We pay close attention to Indian food, lifestyles and health data. Much of the published microbiome research comes from Western populations, and its findings do not always apply to people eating dal, roti, rice and dahi every day.

Our Sourcing Standards

Every health or science claim in our articles must be backed by a reliable source. Each article ends with a References list that links to those sources, so you can read them yourself.

  • Peer-reviewed research: studies published in recognised scientific and medical journals. Systematic reviews and large human studies carry the most weight.
  • Indian health authorities: data and guidance from bodies such as the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), the ICMR-National Institute of Nutrition and the National Family Health Survey.
  • International health bodies: guidance from organisations such as the World Health Organisation.
  • Clear limits: when evidence comes from animal studies, lab experiments or small trials, we say so in the text. Early findings are never presented as settled science.
  • Current evidence: we prefer recent research and recheck our sources whenever an article is reviewed.

Other blogs, product marketing and anonymous websites are never used as evidence for a health claim.

How Every Article Is Checked Before Publishing

Each article passes through the same steps before it goes live.

  1. Research: we review the latest evidence and what is already published on the topic, so each article adds something useful.
  2. Writing: articles are written in plain language for Indian readers, with short sections, direct answers and practical steps.
  3. Fact-check: every number, study detail and claim is checked against its original source.
  4. Originality check: each article is checked to confirm it is our own work and not copied from elsewhere.
  5. Scientific review: Dr. Surendra K Chikara reviews the science for accuracy.
  6. Medical review: Shailesh Bisht reviews health and diet advice for safety.
  7. Publishing:the article goes live with the writer's and reviewer's names and the date of review.

How We Keep Our Content Independent

Bione offers gut microbiome and DNA tests, wellness programmes and supplements. Our articles mention these where they are relevant to the topic, and each one ends with a clearly marked call to action.

Our products never change what the evidence says. We report findings as they are, including when a study is small or a result is uncertain, and we explain what our tests can and cannot tell you. We do not publish sponsored or paid content.

Dr. Chikara is Bione's Founder & CEO. We show this alongside his name so readers can see his role clearly.

Updates and Corrections

We review published articles at least once every 12 months, and sooner when major new research appears or official guidelines change. The “Last updated” date on each article shows when it was last reviewed.

If you spot an error or out-of-date information, please email us at support@bione.in. We look into every report and correct confirmed errors within 7 working days.

Medical Disclaimer
